►Updated EPC solenoid and solenoid clips.
►New boost valve kit, pressure regulator valve, bypass converter clutch sleeve, and plunger eliminate delayed engagement, shudder, and soft shifting.
►Upgraded spiral lock snap ring and staked retainer for intermediate clutch address an OE design flaw and eliminate premature failure.
►Updated 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator pistons prevent harsh shifting and premature clutch failure.

►2001 and newer models feature a new 3-4 capacity valve sleeve and an extra-thick zinc-coated Super Tough Plate to eliminate plate cracking and cross leaks caused by repeated stress from the 2-3 accumulator piston spring retainer.

Both are good options but the best option for you depends on the transmission problem, the year, make and model of vehicle, the mileage and the vehicle value. What kind of warranty coverage are you looking for? Remanufactured transmissions carry a longer, 3 year, nationwide warranty with additional upgrades while a rebuilt unit generally carries up to a 1 or 2 year warranty and upgrades vary from shop to shop.
Reman 4R75E vs. Used 4R75E?
Buying a used 4R75E transmission may save you money. However, if the unit does not work properly after installed, you will more than likely have to pay the labor again for removal and reinstall of the transmission PLUS the freight to ship the transmission back to the salvage yard. The additional cost may be higher than installing a reman or rebuilt transmission–not to mention the extra downtime. Warranties for a used transmission is only 30 days, 60 days, 90 days or 6 months. Used transmissions, since there is no way to know how many miles are on them, may fail at any time.

4R75E / 4R75W / 4R70W History

The 6L80 (and similar 6L90) was introduced in late 2005 and is a fully automatic, six-speed, clutch-to-clutch, rearwheel drive, electronic-controlled transmission. The transmission consists primarily of a four-element torque converter, an integral fluid pump and converter housing, a single and double planetary gear set, friction and mechanical clutch assemblies, and a hydraulic pressurization and control system. The four-element torque converter contains a pump, a turbine, a pressure plate splined to the turbine, and a stator assembly.

The torque converter acts as a fluid coupling to smoothly transmit power from the engine to the transmission. It also hydraulically provides additional torque multiplication when required. The pressure plate, when applied, provides a mechanical “direct drive” coupling of the engine to the transmission. The planetary gear sets provide the six forward gear ratios and reverse. Changing gear ratios is fully automatic and is accomplished through the use of a Transmission Control Module (TCM) located inside the transmission. The TCM receives and monitors various electronic sensor inputs and uses this information to shift the transmission at the optimum time. It features clutch to clutch shifting, eliminating the one-way clutches used on older transmission designs.
