Our 4R100 Updates and Upgrades
►Six-plate direct clutch and four-plate intermediate clutch packs, standard on all models, increase durability and performance.
►Updated EPC solenoid and solenoid clips.
►New boost valve kit, pressure regulator valve, bypass converter clutch sleeve, and plunger eliminate delayed engagement, shudder, and soft shifting.
►Upgraded spiral lock snap ring and staked retainer for intermediate clutch address an OE design flaw and eliminate premature failure.
►Updated 1-2 and 2-3 accumulator pistons prevent harsh shifting and premature clutch failure.
►New overdrive servo pin sleeve installed in our servo modification process with custom designed tooling and bushings.
►Completely remanufactured pump with new line bore bushings eliminates leaks and provides superior flow and durability.
►Fully remanufactured torque converter is tested for leaks, lockup, concentricity, and balance. Upgrades exceed OE requirements and eliminate the possibility of front seal leaks, premature bushing wear, and vibration.
►2001 and newer models feature a new 3-4 capacity valve sleeve and an extra-thick zinc-coated Super Tough Plate to eliminate plate cracking and cross leaks caused by repeated stress from the 2-3 accumulator piston spring retainer.
►Eight-plate direct clutch pack, additional valve body modifications, elevated pressure regulator valve, and other upgrades to increase durability and load capacity.
► Remanufactured valve body, with complete system correction and recalibration kit, improves pressure control and shift quality.
► Complete road simulation using a dynamometer testing program called C.A.R.S. (Computer Aided Road Simulation). Every transmission is cold and hot tested before shipment.

How Many Variations of the 4R100 / E4OD?
There are many different variations (so we have over 60 different part numbers!). Each one for a different engine size (bellhousing) and varying electronic and solenoid systems for different years.

Labor Warranty Defined: Up to $50/hour MItchell book hours for removal and re-installation. Must be initially installed at an auto repair shop for labor warranty to be valid. Auto repair shop is defined as repair shop whose primary business is automotive repair and provides auto repair service to the general public, and the initial install is done on a repair order.

4R100 / E4OD History
The E4OD was updated in 1998 and this new transmission was the last rendition of the C6. It was largely the same as the E4OD, but with some changes to internal components to address durability concerns when put behind the ever increasingly powerful Powerstroke Diesel Engine.
In 1999 it was fitted with a PTO (Power Take Off) for auxiliary equipment attached to heavy duty trucks. To follow Ford’s new naming schemes for its other transmissions, Ford renamed the E4OD the 4R100.
