First introduced for the 2009 model year in the Nissan 370Z, InfinitI FX and Infiniti G series, the RE7R01A transmission is a 7-speed automatic manufactured by Nissan’s transmission subsidiary Jatco. Also known as the Jatco JR710E transmission, this gearbox features 4 planetary gear sets, 3 multi-plate clutch packs, 4 multi-plate brakes, and 2 sets of one-way clutches.
Unlike many transmissions, the Nissan / Infiniti RE7R01A transmission uses partial torque converter lockup between gear changes to reduce harshness. To achieve this, the RE7R01A / JR710E modulates the applying pressure with the torque converter clutch control valve and torque converter clutch solenoid (they refer to this as Smooth Lockup Control). To further enhance the smooth operation, the line pressure behind each clutch is adjusted to match the engine force and vehicle speed.
77Nissan RE7R01A Valve Body Problems & Solutions
Transmission slips/engine races when accelerating – RE7R01A transmission
Problem – If you step on the gas and the engine races without increasing the vehicle speed, the transmission may be slipping.
Solution – If your RE7R01A transmission is slipping, it could be caused by a number of things including; a failing line pressure solenoid valve, low brake solenoid valve, direct clutch solenoid valve, 2346 brake solenoid valve, anti-interlock solenoid valve, input speed sensor, output speed sensor, transmission fluid temperature sensor, wiring/communication issue with the CAN bus system, or valve body issues/failure.
Transmission range switch failure – RE7R01A transmission
Problem – If the transmission range sensor has failed in your Nissan, a number of symptoms can occur including having a difficult time engaging or disengaging Park, the vehicle moves forward when the gear selector is in the P and/or R position, the vehicle moves backward when the shifter is in the D position.
Solution – Check, adjust and/or replace the shift linkage and/or the transmission range switch
Contaminated transmission fluid can leach into the RE7R01A TCM, causing the electrical current to arc between the pins. When this happens, numerous problems and error codes can be triggered, including malfunctioning solenoids (like the front brake solenoid / 4-5 slipping) and pressure switches.
Once the solenoids are forced to work with the contaminated transmission fluid, it’s unlikely that they will ever function correctly again. The Infiniti RE7R01A solenoids are delicate little devices, and the gel-like contaminated ATF can severely damage the plunger mechanism and wiring. This can cause slipping between the gears, delayed shifts, erratic shifting, and/or a complete failure to engage forward or reverse gears.
The Street Smart Transmission Difference
If you want to solve all of your valve body related issues, and have the security of a 3 Year/No Hassle Warranty, then you need to consider a remanufactured RE7R01A valve body from Street Smart Transmission. Each one is built in a state of the art factory, by Certified valve body technicians. And our strict quality control process ensures that each valve body that we ship, will exceed the manufacturer’s specifications using a road simulation tester.
How It’s Done
•Using specialized equipment, each valve body is inspected for warping, cracks, and tensile strength prior to the build
•Every valve, piston, spring and bore is tested to ensure that it conforms to OE specifications
•Wear components like valve body gaskets are replaced
•7 solenoids get bench tested prior to it leaving
•Pressure switch and speed sensors are tested
•The remanufactured TCM is pre-programmed to each customers specific VIN number code, ensuring proper functionality right out of the box.
Once finished, every remanufactured RE7R01A valve body is thoroughly bench tested using a Superflow AXILINE Valve Body Tester. This state of the art machine is able to simulate actual road conditions, which allows the shift points and functionality to be fine-tuned prior to shipment.
So if you’re looking for a remanufactured RE7R01A valve body that is engineered to exceed both OE specifications and customer expectations, then give us a call or fill out the form above.
